Previous Employment

We are required by law to make sure we know about the work you have done in the past, as well as the periods you have spent out of employment. Please start with the most recent and work backwards to your first job since leaving school. Please also include any voluntary roles and time spent in higher or further education.

Please supply the details of two people who can be contacted for a reference. Please note the following:

1. One of your referees must be your current or most recent employer.
2. If your current or most recent employment does not involve working with children/vulnerable adults, but you have worked with children/vulnerable adults in the past, then your second referee should be from the employer with whom you have most recently worked with children/vulnerable adults.
3. If you have previously worked with children/vulnerable adults, your employer will be asked about disciplinary offences/concerns relating to your suitability to work with the relevant client group.
4. Neither referee should be a relative or someone known to you solely as a friend. If you do not have two previous employers, please provide character references instead from someone in a position of responsibility (e.g. a teacher).

Because of the nature of our work, Novalis Trust is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If you are invited for an interview, please note that you will be asked to provide details of all unspent convictions or cautions together with any criminal history that would not be filtered. If your application is successful, this self-disclosure information will be checked against information from the Disclosure & Barring Service before your appointment is confirmed. If you have a criminal record this will not necessarily mean that your application will not be successful. Instead, each case will be reviewed fairly using the objective assessment procedure in our Recruitment Policy.
