An exciting opportunity has arisen to employ an additional speech and language therapist into a well-established and friendly team working with children and young people aged 7-19 with special educational needs and therapeutic care for adults with learning disabilities. This role would suit a newly qualified therapist (other experience will be considered).

The post would be based at Cotswold Chine School and William Morris School to support young people and adults who have experienced trauma and/or adversity at some point in their lives and present with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities for this role:

  • The role would include assessment, observation, creating therapeutic support plans/goals and carrying out therapeutic interventions for the children and young people
  • You will have a manageable case load where you will be able to deliver speech therapy on a 1:1 and small group basis, supported by therapy assistants.
  • Support colleagues to understand the communication needs of children/adults that we work with
  • Our children and young people have varied communication needs based on the impact of their adverse childhood experiences alongside additional diagnoses. Therefore, the candidate will need to be flexible with their approach to working and be able to plan engaging age and developmentally appropriate therapeutic sessions.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to work as part of our well-established and friendly team at Cotswold Chine School, following a trauma informed approach. This would include opportunities to support the children with achieving their therapy goals within areas such as sensory, physical, emotional literacy, emotional regulation and independent living skills. Novalis Trust, is a charity that supports children and adults with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties and other learning needs.

It is essential that you are able to work within a team and can evidence your excellent communication skills with the ability to autonomously manage your own caseload. It is recommended that you have some post qualification experience, however, newly qualified individuals with the ability to transfer relevant experience from placements are welcome to apply. The trust offers a preceptorship programme for newly qualified Occupational Therapist. You must be able to demonstrate evidence of core Occupational Therapy skills and be registered with the Health Care Professions Council.

There is an established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Social Workers, Drama Therapist and Psychotherapists. There are regular clinical and therapy team meetings to discuss, share and track progress within the individual’s therapy and to document outcomes of therapeutic interventions. This post will provide opportunities to develop your professional skills whilst being supported through working in an established team of experienced therapists.

The role will involve providing integrated Occupational Therapy standardised and observation-based assessments and delivering interventions. This may include advising on specialist equipment, developing programmes to help rebuilding lost skills and restore confidence, advising on domestic and workplace environmental alterations and coaching children in social skills and anxiety and behaviour management. In addition, a strong focus will be on implementing sensory regulation strategies working within a trauma informed and attachment focused model of approach.

There is a strong emphasis towards continuing professional development and regular opportunities for clinical supervision with experienced clinicians at the trust. The trust offers additional training within the areas of trauma informed care, family work, Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics and Sensory Integration Education Network Module 1. Teacher of Food Technology (Hospitality, Food and Nutrition)

This is an exciting opportunity for a practical hands-on enthusiastic candidate. The successful candidate with have the unusual opportunity to support the running of a local charitable café as the ‘9th classroom’ of Cotswold Chine School. The school’s Halfway Café is designed to teach children through practical work experience to develop social skills, practical food preparation, hygiene and nutrition skills in order to prepare them for adulthood.

The school itself is a trauma informed school for children (aged 7-19).

The candidate would join a supportive team who welcome teachers from all backgrounds and levels of experience looking to begin a career in special educational needs teaching. Responsibilities for this role:

  • Walling, concreting, plastering, floor laying, tiling and roofing.
  • The development and maintenance and security of all Novalis sites, buildings and grounds.
  • Assisting with site inspections.
  • Moving and storing furniture and provisions around the site as required.
  • Assisting the maintenance team with other general maintenance tasks in line with the full job description.
